- Which buildings to dismantle ?
- Which buildings to retrofit & reuse ?
- Which buildings to be built new ?
1. Original block identifying which buildings to retain and which buildings to dismantle.
4. Geometrical composition achieved through a relationship of site & context.
2. Buildings to be retained to analyse their relationship with the site & surroundings.
5. A volumetric composition that corresponds with each other to be whole.
3. Inner dynamic of building facades has been achieved by tweaking their forms.
6. Buildings with the proposed geometric form in a symbiotic context.

Focus on building design
-Cramped internal planning & need for redevelopment
-Improper shading, hence internal discomfort
-Urban vertical farming on blank South facade

4. The add on -
The add-on residential block for incoming residential population & their need for typologies.

5. Green frame -
Green roof and urban vertical farming in the south and trellis on the north create a second frame arounf the building.

6. Framed -
Old building framed with the new residential additions & a secondary green frame together being framed.
2. Social Void -
Removing the existing roof to make way for additional floors & creating open ground floor plan as social space.

1. The cut -
Platform that comes to the first floor level creates a cut motion in the building with the result of an open ground floor.

3. The shield -
Additional winter gardens and buffer spaces with shading devices for better internal thermal comfort.

Vertical urban farming -
(reference : greenbelly.org)
The vertical urban farming is appropriate for retrofit buildings, especially those who have blank South facades. This module fits on the building façade as an add-on. Reusing scaffolding for the structure of this module, it is so designed to generate solar energy through solar panels, reuse rain water through harvesting, reuse waste from the site to create compost, uses minimum land to obtain fresh produce.

Structure
Understanding structure for retrofitting the typologies
These 3 modules have been selected on the lower floors where there is a need of retrofitting.
